The Mantinum

Inaugurated in 2020, the Mantinum will offer you a unique view of the Old Port of Bastia. This most modern building stands in contrast to the historic Citadel.

Its name “Mantinum” comes from the Romans who named Bastia after them.

Set off to discover this new space!  From the Old Port, there are two possible options:

– the most impatient will prefer to take the lift which will take them effortlessly to the upper town ;

– while the less impatient will take the time to stroll through the narrow alleys of the Romieu garden before arriving on the vast esplanade of the green theatre.

No matter how you get there, once you get there you will be captivated by the postcard setting and the beauty of the panorama.

After a short break, continue your visit through the picturesque and colourful alleyways of the Citadel. Don’t miss to discover the Cathedral of Saint Mary, as well as the oratory of Saint Croix, a small pearl of rococo style.

Your discovery of the area would not be complete without a visit to the Palais des Gouverneurs, which houses the Bastia History Museum.
