The flat was once the home of the Comte de Marbeuf, where Napoleon Bonaparte stayed before leaving his native island for the very first time. Sir Gilbert Elliot, vice king of the Anglo-Corsican Kingdom (1794-1796) established his private residence here. In the 19th century, the residence became the most luxurious hotel in Bastia, before closing and giving way to the city’s land registry. Afterwards, the flat was abandoned and is now completely renovated and transformed into a guest house.
