Under no circumstances should you miss visiting the Old Port of Bastia, in the heart of the old town, nestled like a jewel in its setting between the Market Square and the Citadel.
Comfortably seated on the terrace of a café, you will be carried away by the ballet of pleasure boats, whose comings and goings seem protected by the church of Saint Jean-Baptiste whose emblematic bell towers proudly dominate the navy.
Picturesque district, the Old Port has managed to preserve its old soul. In the past, used by the Genoese fleet, royal and imperial ships gave way to pleasure boats and fishing boats which from the early hours of the day appeared on the waters of the basin. The early risers, and the luckiest can even enjoy some days of freshly caught fish sold directly at the dock.
Place of life and animation, the Old - Port shelters many restaurants proposing a great culinary diversity: traditional cuisine, specialities of the world, fish and seafood, artisanal ice creams... no doubt that you will find what you want.
In summer time, Bastiais and holidaymakers have the pleasure of enjoying a pedestrianised district in the evening where religious events and musical and cultural activities follow one another at a frantic pace.
