Hiking : Santa Maria-Furiani chapel
This Sentier du Patrimoine (Heritage Trail) takes you through the maquis to the chapel of Santa Maria, offering superb views over the plain. Accessible and pleasant, it invites you to discover both the natural wealth of the area and its historical heritage.

📍Le Parcours
-Departure is from the village of Furiani (top of the village), where a large car park makes parking easy.
-From the car park, take the road on the left. After a few minutes, it turns into dirt track.
-After approximately 15 minute walk, you will come to an intersection indicating the Sant'Antone pass on the right. Continue straight ahead on the main runway.
-A few metres further on, a gate with “private property” signs” is blocking the way. Take the path on the right, under an oak tree, climbing into the scrubland.
-The climb is a little steep at first, but then the path quickly becomes more challenging. more accessible.
-The path runs alongside a fence with a view of the chapel on your left. Continue until you reach a sign indicating the chapel.
Follow the descending slightly to the east.
You reach the Santa Maria chapel in 40 minutes from the outset.
Accessible to all, this walk is easy and child-friendly.
The chapel is located on a mountainside, offering exceptional views of :
the Marana plain
Chiurlinu pond
and, on a clear day, the Tuscan islands (Elba, Capraia, Montecristo...)
From tables and benches are available, perfect for a break or a picnic.
Walkers can return to the village along the same path or continue along the heritage trail, which runs alongside the chapel and joins the main road.

The Santa Maria chapel contains some magnificent old frescoes, including an impressive Christ Pantocrator surrounded by the four Evangelists. There is also a rare representation of the heavenly Jerusalem, making this place a real treasure trove of Corsican religious heritage.
