CHAPELLE SAINTE MARIE

The start of this delightful walk is in the hills above the village of Furiani.

Before starting your walk, you can discover the old Genoese fortress that became the «Paoline» tower in the 18th century. Not far from the village's central square, surrounded by the houses of prominent citizens, you'll see an ancestral wine press and bread ovens.

To get to the route leading to the chapel of Sainte Marie, you'll have to walk up the main street past the village's old wash-house. In days gone by, the women of the village liked to meet here to chat and share confidences. Continue along this path for 150 metres before arriving at the start of the dirt track. This walk offers a wonderful panoramic view of the Tuscan archipelago.

Pack a picnic so you can spend some relaxing time with family and friends near the chapel, which was listed as a historic monument in 1992.
