This path begins on the heights of the port of Toga, beyond the Piazza Mattei.
Once used by the village women who came down every day to sell fruit and vegetables at the Bastia market, this centuries-old mule track offers a view of rare beauty over the town of Bastia, the Tyrrhenian Sea and the islands of the Tuscan archipelago.
After a little effort, you'll be rewarded with the charm of the traditional Corsican habitat in the hamlet of Alzeto. The more motivated will continue their ascent by taking the Ville-di-Pietrabugno heritage trail. After a 1 hour 20 minute walk, this route will take you to the village's old ice house, an unusual building dating from the 17th century.
You can enjoy a picnic in the shade of the chestnut trees. On the way back, take the path towards the hamlet of Guaïtella, where you can take a refreshing break at the picturesque wash-house, reached from the road via a staircase on the left.
