Halfway between Place Saint Nicolas and the Old Port, rue Napoléon, inaugurated in 2013, is the only street entirely dedicated to pedestrians.
Covered with Brando stone paving, this shopping street boasts two remarkable religious buildings: the oratory of the Saint Roch brotherhood and the oratory of the Immaculate Conception with its pebble mosaic forecourt.
Fancy a shopping break? You'll be spoilt for choice....this pedestrianised street is home to a host of trendy stores, as well as designer workshops, old-fashioned stalls, souvenir shops, boutiques selling regional produce, ice cream parlours and restaurants, all of which add to the friendly atmosphere in which Bastians and holidaymakers alike love to stroll.
Take rue Saint Roch or rue Faggianelli, pedestrianised side streets, and you'll come to the Place du Marché, home to the church of Saint Jean, while walk along rue Napoléon to rue des Terrasses and you'll come to the Vieux Port, one of the city's most typical districts.
