It's a haven of greenery between the Citadelle district and the Old Port.
Overlooking the quays, the Romieu Garden was designed in the second half of the 19th century by the Bastia-based architect Paul-Augustin Viale. From its viewing platform, the Romieu Staircase winds its way past pedestal vases, statues, the fountain and the long wrought-iron railings that form a picturesque path beneath the trees, offering views of the sea. It is the ideal spot for a relaxing break amidst the greenery, whilst watching the ceaseless comings and goings of the ships.
