It's a haven of greenery between the Citadelle district and the Old Port.
Overlooking the quays, the Romieu garden was designed in the second half of the 19th century by Bastia architect Paul-Augustin Viale. From its belvedere, the Romieu staircase winds its way between the standing vases, statues, fountain and long wrought-iron railings that trace a bucolic passageway under the trees with a view of the sea. It's an ideal spot for a leafy break from the incessant ballet of ships.
