Opened in 2020, the Mantinum offers a unique view of Bastia’s Old Port. This ultra-modern building stands in stark contrast to the Citadel, a site steeped in history. Its name, «Mantinum», comes from the Romans, who called Bastia by this name.

From the Old Port, there are two options:
– those who are in a hurry will prefer to take the lift, which will take them effortlessly up to the upper town; ;
– whilst those in no particular hurry will take the time to stroll along the narrow paths of the Romieu Garden before reaching the vast esplanade of the open-air theatre.
No matter how you get there, once you're there you'll be captivated by this picture-postcard setting and the beauty of the panorama.
After a short break, continue your visit through the picturesque, colourful streets of the Citadel. Don't miss Saint Mary's Cathedral and the Oratory of the Holy Cross, a little gem in the Rococo style.
Your exploration of the area would not be complete without a visit to the Palais des Gouverneurs, which houses the Bastia History Museum.
